  Streaming Video Problems  
 

Problem: The video is not playing

To view the Worldbizwatch or CNBC Asia video you must have Windows Media Player installed on your computer. Windows Media Player is a free application from Microsoft used to play videos on your computer. To install Windows Media Player follow these instructions below.

1. Click this "Get Windows Media Player" button.
2. Select the version from the drop-down box that corresponds to your operating system. Note: Do not select any version labeled BETA.
3. Select the language version from the drop-down box and then click on the Download Now button.
4. In the File Download dialog box, select Save this program to disk, then click OK.
5. In the Save As window, save the file to your Desktop.
6. Do not change the name of the file. Click the Save button.
7. Depending on your modem speed, the download time may vary. Take note of the file name as you will need to reference the file once the download is completed.

When the download has finished, you are now ready to install the player.

1. Close all applications before proceeding with the player installation.
2. Locate the file on your Desktop and double-click it to activate the installation.
3. When the security warning appears, click Yes to continue installation.
4. The program will display an End User License Agreement. Click Yes if you agree.
5. After installing the initial program files, specify your Internet connection speed. Choose between 14.4K, 19.2K, 28.8K, 56KModem/ISDN, 112K Modem/Dual-ISDN, T1/Lan, or Unknown/Other. If you do not know your connection speed, ask your network administrator or refer to your modem documentation.
6. Click OK.

The Commericals and ViaVid video are in QuickTime movie format. You may need to download the Apple QuickTime Viewer to play videos on your computer. A free copy of QuickTime can be downloaded by clicking here

Problem: The video starts playing but keeps pausing part way through.

The video you are watching is being streamed over the Internet to your computer. A slow Internet connection and/or high Internet traffic will result in the video pausing as your computer downloads the next section of the video.

Solution 1: Choose the lowest image quality streaming video. These version of the videos has been optimized to run on low speed Internet connections but may still pause on some lower speed Internet connections. If the video is still pausing then see solution 2 below.

Solution 2: Download the entire video to your computer and then watch it. To download the video to your computer follow the instructions below:

1. From the list below choose the quality of video you want to download.
2. Right mouse click, and choose "save target as" from the menu.
3. In the "Save As window", save the file to your Desktop.
4. Do not change the name of the file. Click the Save button.
5. Depending on your modem speed, the download time may vary. Take note of the file name as you will need to reference the file once the download is complete.
6. When the download is finished, click on the icon on your desktop and the video will should start to play automatically.
